I lead and support interdisciplinary projects that turn scientific knowledge into actionable strategies. I co-create tools, platforms, and policies that respond to the complexity of the triple planetary crisis and the needs of frontline communities. Each project reflects my commitment to social and environmental justice, scientific rigor, and cross-sector collaboration.
Current projects
- Climate Threads Collective – Co-Founder and CEO, leading strategy and project development. We co-design climate adaptation and resilience solutions rooted in justice with scientists, policymakers, and frontline communities. Recently, a policy proposal we designed to protect ecosystem and communities of the Mesoamerican Reef System, was selected for the MAR Leadership Program 2025 (since 06.2025).
- earthly matters – Co-creator, writing engaging climate science content and curricula, with a touch of humor, for an environmentally aware, technically curious, and climate-anxious audience.
- Carbonleap.io – Founding Researcher, leading research and co-designing product development with agricultural SMEs (with a focus on viticulture) and sustainability professionals. We translate climate and industry metrics into actionable insights for process optimization and emissions reduction.
- México vía Berlín e.V. – Director of the Board, overseeing strategic planning, research, and advocacy for human rights and environmental initiatives between Mexico and Germany.
- Observatorio Agroindustrial en México (OBSAM) – Researcher & Founding member. We assess the impact of governmental policies on agricultural practices, in collaboration with government officials, women-led farmer organizations, academics and journalists.
Past projects
In the past, I have mobilized my expertise on scientific modeling, data science, risk assessment, and policy analysis to investigate complex systems. For example, I have investigated climate change impacts as part of the global network of climate scientists of the Inter-Sectoral Impact Model Intercomparison Project (ISIMIP), built financial modelling capacity at OpenOil, and collaborated across disciplines to understand depression progression at the Free University of Berlin. Some outcomes of my work are:
- A Boolean model to explain the differentiation of stem cells in Arabidopsis thaliana
- A model for the early detection of disease progression using complex networks analysis
- Drought indicators under multiple socio-economic and climate change scenarios
- A historical analysis of the expansion of oil palm in Mexico and the impact of governmental agricultural policies
